The players will be able to fight their way through rich sci-fi and fantasy scenarios using big collection of alchemical spells. Ordinarily one would cast spells at their enemy. In Quantum Nucleus it works differently. For the most part, alchemical spells are encapsulated and fired using special guns; these spells are invoked on impact. As the game progresses, player can earn more and more special abilities, which spice up gameplay.
Quantum Nucleus has a semi-linear branching storyline, within that storyline there optional things which influence the ending of the game, as well as optional dungeons, places, people, bosses, abilities. The game gets more open-world the further the player gets.
Besides the focus on story, the game also features many other RPG elements, like a experience points/levelling, items, shops, equip and more.
The player controls the protagonist Nova Okita, accompanied by Asuka.
Part of the premise is that dimensions have merged, bringing a lot of different worlds, races and abilities together.
Alchemy was brought over from one of these dimensions which allows the user to create energetic spells.
The game features different story endings, as well as a challenge system; similar to Trophies / Achievements.
